The site is currently used as a children’s garden nursery, where children’s activities take place and are now to be supported by the new use of the yurt constructed. The brief is to deliver a traditional weathertight Mongolian dwelling of lightweight construction on a ready prepared concrete ground for the garden. The yurt is designed to simplify the children’s experience with angled fabricated walls for the area of activity. The space will also be used as a staff room and a meeting point for the parents and teachers. Moreover, in order to learn how to fashion the covering of the Yurt, operating an industrial sewing machine was necessary. The existing tensile canopy within the garden had to be taken down and re-machined.
